Bulgaria Inquinans (Black Jelly Drops)
Found at Lake Waikeramoana on May 10, 2001 at the 15th Annual New Zealand Fungal Foray.
A fascinating mushroom. At first impression it looked just like pieces of liver.
Texture: Very meaty, tough and leathery. Dark brown in colour. In cross section has a network of white veins.
Habitat: On wood in groups of 3-6.
Edibility: Unknown.
WARNING Different people react differently to different mushrooms. NEVER eat a wild mushroom without being 100% sure it is safe to do so.
