Mushrooms in this family are quite common. Spore prints vary from Brown to black. Partial veil is present but does not leave a ring on the stalk.

Found at Lake Wakeramoana on May 10, 2001 at the 15th New Zealand Annual Fungal Foray.

I tried to ignore this mushroom but kept bumping into it. I am glad I took notice of it eventually.

Quite large, Cap: 6-10cm in diameter. Dark brown in colour with lighter tan coloured patterns towards the margin.

Gills: Tan in colour. Free from stalk.
Spore Print: Black
Stem: 6-9cm high and about 1-1,5cm in diameter. Tan to beige in colour.
Habitat: On wood. Grows in rather large clusters.
Edibility: I don't know!!! (Don't try and find out)
